Bake Sale and Vet Update

Bake Sale!!
Steve made all the goodies! I made the sign!
Donations had started to drop off so we have been trying to think of other ways to raise money. On Sunday and Monday we had a bake sale in Dolores Park here in San Francisco. I wasn't feeling good on Sunday so Steve and Pheona went out without me. I don't think they missed me much though! LoL
Steve sent me this from day one of the sale.
The sale went off very well, considering not many folks were actually interested in a treat! Several people just donated, without accepting a cookie from us. On the first day I sent Steve a text asking how it was going, if he had made many sales. His reply was, "haven't sold many cookies but everyone who passes by wants to give Pheona a hug and just give her money!" When he got home and we did all the math(accounted for expenses), we made about $40 for the surgery fund and still had most of the cookies left!

Yesterday we all went out together. What a day! There was a stage set up with plays, live music and the mime troupe going on. I have never seen so many people packed into half of a park! We spent about 4-5 hours yesterday and still didn't sell many cookies. Again, people who wanted to help just donated without accepting a treat in return. We added another $80 yesterday as well! Time to fire up the oven and get to baking again.

The Saving Pheona Bake Sale! We even had free live music!
I have a couple of raffle ideas, but those will take some planning to make happen. I also want to keep going with the bake sale, and would love to organize a party or barbeque, but that might not be possible. I am open to any fundraising ideas that folks might have, if you have an idea please leave it in the comments below. I would really appreciate it!

Vet Update

We saw Dr. Kidd again last Thursday. He did a recheck on her tumor, to see if the prednisone had made any progress on shrinking it. He took measurements and said it has not changed at all in the 2 weeks of the prednisone treatment. It sucks that it hasn't shrunk, but it also hasn't grown larger either. That is at least something to be grateful for. Since what we are doing right now has at least slowed the growth Dr. Kidd feels we are safe to wait 2-3 more weeks for surgery, while we wait to hear from the other charities and continue to fund raise.

Once we have all of the money we need for surgery, then we will meet with the surgeon the day of surgery. (I believe her name is Dr. Mehl and meeting with her prior to surgery will save us the office visit fee, hopefully.) They said we can do the ultrasound at that point as well. If, sadly, the cancer has spread they would just cancel the surgery and we would discuss our options at that point. We have no way of knowing what the ultrasound will say, so we just have to wait and hope it is all clear.

Dr. Kidd is keeping her on prednisone, benadryl and pepcid until surgery. There was some concern that she would need to be off the prednisone (which requires careful weaning) before surgery, but now the word is that it is such a small dose she can be on it right up to surgery. There is some chance that Pheona would also have to have a course of chemo after surgery. I am really hoping she won't. Just the medicines she is on now are really affecting her quality of life.
So high on benadryl she can barely open her eyes.

Keep checking back for more updates, and if you haven't already, please consider donating to help us pay for the surgery she needs. You can also help by sharing our fundraising page on your social media or purchasing one of the items off our Amazon Wishlist. (Thank you so much to those who have purchased Wishlist items or donated already!! You all rock!)  Pheona sends you all puppy kisses!
